I am a member of a Tom Selleck fan club and there was a post with a lovely photo
from the episode "The Taking of Dick McWilliams" (rocky beach scene). Someone
mentioned that John Hillerman has not been well and that he has dementia. Does
anyone know if this information might be true? I know that he is getting older but
I think of him in his witty moments of Magnum PI.

Do you have a link to the Selleck fan site? I'm dubious as to heresay on the Internet. I read somewhere on this site that someone got a reply to fan letter from him with a request for privacy.
If this is true, it's very sad. I work with the elderly and have cared for many Alzheimer's and dementia patients over the years. It is a mental, emotional, and physical challenge to the patient, family, and caregiver.
Thoughts and prayers.

There are two Tom Selleck fan clubs on Facebook, of which I am a member. This is where I found
the post.

I am saddened to hear about John Hillerman and his health as he clearly was the second star of the show without whom it would not have been what it was. My best wishes to him and all of the cast as they age.

Probably the best thing is to respect John Hillerman's privacy; after all, he has been retired for twenty years now and has long ceased to be a public figure, but oh how I miss his onscreen talent.
