This link below may have been posted previously, though it didn't come up in the search.

I just came across this web site of someone who worked as a grip on Magnum P.I. Includes some behind the scenes photos.

Don't remember seeing that before, thanks for posting.

Never-before-seen Magnum behind-the-scenes pics! Awesome! Lots of short-shorts and staches in those pics! Gotta love the 80's! :)

Thanks for pointing this out gilb!

This is extremely cool. Thanks very much.

I found this interesting: "We had 3 Ferraris a Close up picture car, one to drive fast in long shots, and a VW with a fiberglass "Ferrari" body to do "stunt" work!" I didn't know they used a kit. Probably what they used when they blew up Mac.

Hi Styles...I'm looking for the post from Mackay. He said it was a Camaro or a Fiero but I can't remember which one.

Edit
I found his post.

My character, Mac, was blown up in the shell of a Camaro which from a
> distance, passed for his red Ferrari.

Here is the entire post.

Hi gang...

During the run of the show, Ferrari supplied the company with two cars per
year in exchange for the publicity. Then after each season, they would
offer major discounts on the two cars. Tom drove one for at least a while
during the show... a red one! I think he regretted it, too, because it was
a real flag for tourists.

By the way, one of the cars supplied would always be used as the
driving/stunt car and the other would only be used for tow shots when
there was dialog while driving... thus, the tow car had practically no
miles on it and was a good buy.

My character, Mac, was blown up in the shell of a Camaro which from a
distance, passed for his red Ferrari.

Regards,
Jeff MacKay

Thanks for posting gilb,
Here is his main page and two additional MPI photos.

Interestingly enough from the opening of his page.

"Several years ago I looked at a box of photos in my garage from TV shows and movies I had done and wondered what to do with them.... No one wants to look at them on your coffee table, after all if you aren't in the "Biz" they do not mean much. So this site was born."

Seems to me someone needs to contact him,he may have some stories to share
