Thanks, SelleckLover!
I liked:
"The key to Magnum was that he woke up one day at 33 and realized he had never been 23. I could still work with that, in an elderly way, but you'd need that kind of charm."

Anybody know if Selleck goes by Tom or Thomas in his personal life? I always wonder about why it's always Thomas Magnum and almost never Tom. Pretty unusual that they kept his real name for his character.

Good question, Styles! I always hear him referred to as Tom in the media so I assume that he goes by Tom...but that doesn't mean that his family and close friends don't call him something else.

It would be interesting to know how the Magnum character came about his name. Was it written that way and casting a Tom was just a coincidence? Or did they decide to use Tom's name after he was cast? I wonder if Rick Romer or Andy Dupree would be able to shed any light on this queston...

Don't you just wish we could have our Tom in a room for about three hours and be able to ask him all of the questions we have? About the show...about his memories of the show...and about him?

Sigh.

Good idea for a thread Agatha... What would you ask him?

Oh, my, Styles! I think I have about a thousand questons that I'd want to ask him!!

Shall I do it? Shall I start a thread? I haven't done that before...

Here is what I would as him (I will limit it to five questions)..................

1) How is John Hillerman and could he be talked into a comeback or at the very least a cameo in an original cast Movie?
2) What does your step-son, Kevin do and do you remain on good terms with your first wife and him?
3) Have you ever been asked to appear as Thomas Magnum on any of Don Bellisario's shows.
4) What was Eve Anderson like and how did she tolerate the filming crews on her property?
5) Why haven't you and Sam Elliott done any more movies together?

Good questions, Styles! I've decided to start a new topic. Could you copy your questions over? I couldn't get mine down to five...but started with only six.

Zoiks! I have new questions almost every time I watch the DVDs! This topic could keep me busy for...about eight years!!

Thanks, Styles!!

Maybe just me, but Series 1 is showing on tv at the moment here in Australia and I think I've noticed he introduces himself as Tom and is also referred to as Tom by others quite a few times. Seems by Season 2 it's a definite Thomas, would others agree? I prefer "Thomas" as it kinda follows with his insistance of the title of "private investigator" rather than PI, iykwim?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "Series 1", Jelly Doughnuts. Are you watching the first "season?" I think you're right that there are more "Toms" in there at first. And by the time the later seasons roll around, I'm so used to hearing "Thomas" that when a "Tom" finds it's way into the dialogue, it almost confuses me!

:)

Soooooo. As an Australian, what do you think of Quigley?

:) again!
