Hi guys..Id like to share my story. Growing up in the 80's , like a lot of us, i found Magnum PI at a young age and I was hooked. I loved the escapism and humor, I used to record the episodes with our VCR. I still have them. ha ha. I was also a fan of the Fall Guy. I used to tell my parents that I was either going be be a stuntman or a Private Investigator. Fast Forward to the late 90's, I found the opportunity to get into the business and I have been doing it ever since. In my 50's now and still love it. And I absolutely have the "little voice" that comes in handy. I still have a laugh at some of the surveillance episodes with Tom in the Ferrari. Anyways I thought I would share. I also have a YouTube channel dedicated to real life PI work. I can't post a link because I don't want to get banned but give it a search , you might get a laugh. Just search Roosterjello on YouTube. Any ways I look forward to posting and reading, I just found this site today. If any of you have any real world Private Investigator questions feel free to ask. Bye guys..

Welcome Rooster!

Great story and introduction. Had I been a little younger during the original air dates....I might have done exactly as you have done...at least that's what I tell myself.

I can only imagine being in your position and actually being on a case and having flashbacks of TM on that little screen when "similarities" might occur.

I will be looking up your yt links, and look forward to hearing about some of your "real life" experiences in the field. :magnum:

Thanks for the welcome. Most of my videos I can't show a lot because of legal reasons but it's fun none the less. What's crazy is that I still haven't watched all the episodes of Magnum yet. It's like im saving them, and nothing beats watching old episodes when im actually on surveillance.

Welcome to the forum! I watched couple of your stakeout videos...what a job. I wanted to be a PI too back in the day. Magnum, Simon and Simon, and Rockford were all favorite shows for me. I went into the military and stayed, but often thought "what if". Maybe when you retire you can write a How To book. I have a great idea for a title. Stay safe!

Most of my Divorce cases are child custody, I don't care for them, 95% of them are Injury cases, or Workmans comp, mostly injury, people go out and run into a large semi trucks and try to get millions of dollars.(you've seen the commercials..) And the truckers have cameras front and back these days. Some are actually injured and deserve it,,Slip and fall used to be a big deal, but I spoke with the Claims Manager at a Wal Mart years ago, and he said the only big claim they ever paid out was the "W" fell of the front of the Wal Mart sign and hit a lady and broke her leg, she survived and she's doing well now..I also do missing people, wrongful death, fraud, but can't show any of that on YouTube.

As an attorney I have often heard “that little voice” like Magnum used to say. The show definitely had an impact on a generation of teenage males from those good ole days of the 1980s. The older I get the more I miss those years.

It definitely had a definite impact on the thinking and actions of teenagers back then. The old show was great.
