It always amazed me how Higgins would always get on Magnum about the upkeep with the Ferrari. Keep it clean, change the oil, don't run over mongooses, etc. And yet, Higgins never bothered to keep the lads from constantly jumping on the driver's side door to attempt to 'get at' Magnum and they probably scratched the heck out of paint job.

Good point, maybe the lads were trained to just place their paw pads on RM's vehicles? Heck, they were trained to fetch the phone for Higgins when he was shot in Italian Ice

I think you mean "mongeese".
Higgins let the dogs claw at the Ferrari, but yelled at Magnum for getting oil (actually "not viscous enough" for oil) on the paint.
In the episode where the Ferrari got scratched ("that's not a scratch, it's a bloody gouge!"), Magnum should have blamed it on the lads.

From Merriam Webster:
mongoose noun
mon·goose | \ ˈmän-ˌgüs , ˈmäŋ- \
plural mongooses also mongeese\ ˈmän-ˌgēs , ˈmäŋ- \
Either is correct, it seems. Maybe Higgins used the more typical British plural form of mongooses?

What’s funny is at the end, Higgins calls them mongeese and Magnum corrects him with “mongooses.”

It took 30 years of training but the Lads don’t jump on the Ferrari anymore

You used an American dictionary. From the Cambridge Dictionary:
mongoose
noun [ C ] mɒŋ.ɡuːs; plural mongooses
a small tropical animal with a long tail that eats snakes, rats, and birds' eggs
