Carmen, we expect your research to be complete by the end of the weekend.
Sorry guys, going on vacation for about one week, without taking DVDs to watch with me :( (haven`t allowed it the little ones, so I can`t do it myself)
But in "Did you see the sunrise" Magnum did one driving the Ferrari with Mac and Judy and in Kiìs don`t lie one at about 22.10 and one at 44.20
:P that`s all for now.. bye till next week...

What is the Fourth Wall?

It's when the actors sometimes break character. For example the big one on MPI is when Selleck or others look at the camera. The fourth wall pharase comes from tv or movie sets having 3 walls, the fourth is never seen because there is no fourth wall, that's where the cameras are.
I know that's a crappy explaination, maybe someone else can say it better.

Un-huh... that`s it. In other words it`s when every woman thinks "OHHHH He is looking right at me  "

Would you guys agree that Higgins is breaking the 4th wall in "Home From The Sea".

"Sometimes I think I shall never understand women"

Although he does talk to himself, so he could have been doing that. Still one of my favorite lines

Although Higgins does break the fourth wall a few times through out the series, this is not an example of one of those times. He's merely talking to himself.

Ya, that one can be debated. But, the only other time I recall Higgins talking to himself was in Tropical Madness doing his "a little champagne" rehearsal.

Has anyone ever wondered whether or not the "breaks" were scripted? I'm thinking not, and if not, I think they really propel the skill of the actors into a whole other level.

As I recall, one non-recurring character breaks the fourth wall. Anyone else notice it?

The fourth wall breaks fascinate me. Thanks, everybody, for sharing your insights about them!

I totally agree with Carmen!! Sigh!!

I don't know much about acting or how it works, N1095A. I guess I just assumed that everything is scripted...including "breaks." But I know that sometimes actors ad lib. Hmmmm. That would require an extra level of skill...and from the camera operators, too, right? I guess it feels like it is more possible to change the words a bit than to take more time with a "break". But, again. I really don't know how it all happens.

I haven't found all of the regular cast "breaks" yet, Souome1, much less a break by a non-recurring character. Who was it? Which episode?

:)
