Who here keeps a gun/rifle or guns/rifles in his/her home?

I'll start. We have two rifles and three handguns (only one of which is truly operable, a .357 Magnum [ha!! pun!] with a six-inch barrel; one .32 revolver that hasn't been used for so many years, I'd be afraid to fire it; and one .41 antique Colt revolver that belonged to my grandfather who was a sheriff in Arkansas in the late 1800s, and I have no ammunition for it -- sort of like Quigley's Sharps, it requires special bullets that I can't find and therefore don't have).

And we have no children in the house, if that makes a difference. I don't see our cats shooting themselves or each other accidentally with a gun . . . .

By the way, I conducted this same survey at my office (I work at a law firm, probably around 70 people in the office), and I was surprised that, of the attorneys and staff I asked, I found it to be nearly a 60-40 ratio for having a gun in the house/residence. (I'm in Georgia -- if I were in Alabama, I'd expect 90-10!)

We have my husband's service revolver. That's it. Don't really have a need for guns where we live. Our town is less than 10 years old and we don't even have a Police Dept. We're really out in the boonies so there's not much crime. Hard to believe we live in Southern California, but we do! :D

I don;t own any guns, but I respect the rights of those that choose to do so.

We don't own any guns. My husband used to hunt with his dad, ages ago, but we've never had any here. Every time there are riots (this is So Cal!), I think about it, however.

I have a Super Soaker water gun, that's about it.

Oh, and a baseball bat and some dirty golf clubs. ;)

I just spotted this:

"Win My Quigley Rifle"

Do you think this was the one actually used in the movie?? For some reason, I was thinking it was in the Smithsonian. If it was the actual one used, wow! I wonder who won it!! Since the contest was two years ago, there's probably not a way at this late date to get a listing of the winners, which is supposed to be available for every sweepstakes, isn't it? But you may have to request it at time of entry.

Will Google that and report back if I find anything (though I doubt I will).

P.S. Okay, a little more information, though I still haven't found the winner yet:

"SHILOH RIFLE UPDATE:
On the Shiloh forums one member said this.
There were three made. Mr. Selleck is keeping one, one is being donated to the National Firearms Museum, and one will go to some lucky person.
Also said on the forum that a couple of solid barrel ones were made for stunt work and a couple of 'rubber' ones were made for the fight scenes.

So this Shiloh rifle is one of three, thus creating the high ARV ($102,000) for the winner to pay taxes on."

I also found out you had to send in a SASE before the end of the contest to get the official list of winners, so no luck finding out from the NRA contest section, I guess.

Good investigative work, golf!

I remember reading (I think it was in Cowboys & Indians Magazine) that TS was very proud and excited about having the Quigley Sharps rifle reproduced in such perfect detail. Wouldn't you love to have a private showing of his entire gun collection?
