I started watching the new series (the 2010) one in January of 2013 and am absolutely a HUGE fan, love Hawaii Five 0. I think Alex Oloughlin and McGarrett and Scott Caan as Dano are awesome! And the rest of the cast is fantastic as well. I am 35 so I obviously never saw the original series when it aired but I've watched a few on Netflix and it's extremely good! I always liked Jack Lorde since my dad got me hooked on the old Sean Connery James Bond movies and seeing him in Dr. No. Anway, back to the new series great cast, stories, and an awesome show!

I watched an original Hawaii Five-0 episode the other day on Cozi TV. Just flipping (broadcast) channels and stumbled upon it. It was the Season 1 episode "King of the Hill" with a young Yaphet Kotto as a troubled Vietnam Vet. Danno was shot in the abdomen early in the episode and spent the entire episode on the floor before he could get help. Amazing he didn't die from blood loss. Pretty good episode. I enjoyed it.

There was an amazing array of guest stars on the original. I find it a tad slow moving and wooden now but it really isn't fair to compare it to todays actions shows..........

I couldn't deny my curiosity anymore, and I've just jumped into Hawaii 5-O on Netflix. I'm eight episodes in. I think I'm going to be putting some other tv series on the back-burner for this one. 5-O is very new to me still, but my first impression is that this show just oozes STYLE! I never watched the show before, and I wrongly assumed Steve McGarret was kinda a wooden, cop character. Man, was I wrong! I'm kinda also thinking that black car he drives is just the coolest car in tv. So glad this thread helped me take the dive into this show!

Where has this show been? I'm so happy they have this show on Netflix. I'm almost finished with season two and just LOVE the show! So much style! And the story plots are still far-out! It might be 2015, but this show still seems ahead of the times! One of the coolest shows I can recall watching!

This show started to deteriorate a bit during the last few seasons; certainly Jack Lord's power grab was a contributing factor. But, when Hawaii 5-0 was at its best, it was one of the most dynamic TV shows ever produced.

I'm not sure if this has been posted already or not. Anyway, here is an interesting article about 1974 Marquis and who owns it. The guy even worked on Magnum PI and was a stuntman for Selleck in Quigley Down Under.....I'll post this in the other HFO threads too.

Here is another one (1968) owned by Michael Timothy.

Lots of info......check out the pics of James MacArthur signing the visor.

Another article that mentions a few interesting facts...check out the bit about the mongoose.

Thanks for that post about the car Kenji. I'm not a big car nut, but for whatever reason, that black car McGarret drives just kills me. For the first time, there's a "classic" car I would like to put in my driveway! Thanks again for sharing!

A great HFO trivia question:

Who is the lady doing the hula in the intro?

Answer................

Helen Kuoha Torco

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FuoZaDvIo0

Another piece of trivia.....the club scene with Steve staring at Helen  is a mock up of the Queen's Surf Barefoot Bar (note: the drum face has SM on it which stands for Sterling Mossman). Helen used to dance for Sterling and the Barefoot Bar Gang. The scene was supposedly filmed at the Outrigger Canoe Club because they needed more room for the cameras. I read somewhere that she was paid $150 for that long day of filming.
