Suggestion for the Higgins role

#1 Post by Frodoleader »

First of all, I am not too keen on the whole idea of this movie. Second, I apologize if anyone has made this suggestion already. For the role of Jonathon Quayle Higgins, RSM...drum roll...

Ricky Gervais
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0315041/

Creator/star of the British version of "The Office" and a steller actor in his own right. Along with Matthew McConaghy (sp?) I think he would be great in the role.

Thoughts?

I say Phil Collins. He's acted, He's the right age, He's the right height.

I think Kenneth Branagh would be fine!

Even though I don't think he acts anymore...I'm going to stick with my orig pick of Michael Palin. His real world travels over the past two decades gives him the gravitas to pull off the role.

I think Gervais had been asked about it and he said he wouldn't do it. I like the suggestion though.

Not sure where I had read/heard that he wasn't interested, though...

It would be interesting to have a British guy to play a British character but I'm not sure who would be ideal. Either way he wouldn't be able to emulate Hillerman's portrayal of the character.

I think you could just use John Hillermans voice narrating the movie. :?:

I always imagined that the movie would start out with the funeral of Jonathan Higgins or Robin Masters.

It gives a reason for Thomas, T.C., and Rick to meet up again.
Sneakers Higgins!!

Coming up with replacement actors for any of the guys is a tough one. If you went along with theme that Higgins had died maybe the new majordomo for the estate could be a lady.....this gal happens to already have her own lads!

Sir Anthony Hopkins would have been perfect if he was 10 years younger.
I know what you're thinking, but this time you're wrong.

I would rather have 50 seconds of Hillerman than 50 minutes of anyone else. He is Higgins. Nobody else will do.
