Seems to have been much ado about nothing.

I was wondering about the effects since Hawai'i is so far away, but since tsunamis (in my understanding) are more about wavelength and pressure and not just a big wave I figured perhaps there's something to this.

I did hear on the radio yesterday that they think tsunamis along the Chilean coast may account for the majority of their death toll. Awful . . . but thank God they are an advanced country with good building codes.

Hi guys, I'm on Oahu right now on holidays.
The tsunami was no big deal. They kept us in the hotel until the warning was cancelled; but it was nothing more than a small ebb and flow of sea level.

We got out to the estate yesterday; happy to report the tsunami had no effect on the pool. The effect of time on the estate is a different matter though. The buildings look almost dilapidated.

How great is it that Magnum Mania has a reporter on the scene? Thanks Dan. Great to hear the sunami didn't cause any damage. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

What he said. I was right on Waikiki (Hilton Rainbow Tower), but I was on the 9th floor. Anyone who was below the 4th floor of any hotel got a vertical evacuation.
I wanted to see the tidal pool, but we didn't have a rental car, and it would have taken over an hour to travel 13 miles on TheBus.
I did however, Hike Diamond Head the day before the tsunami.

P.S. Dan: Did you get your "Tsunami Survivor" t-shirt?

If you haven't and you're still there, Crazy shirts is selling them.

G'day Mate,
We're on Kauai at the moment and will be back on Oahu soon.
Haha, will have to get one!

I'm trying to convince my wife and our friends to go out to the estate again for a few hours swimming in the tidal pool. Fingers crossed...
