Was the room that was shown where Higgins is watching TV an upstairs den? I think they showed the same room in Kona Winds??
Actually, I don't think Higgy was callous about Agatha's first broken ankle. Recall that when Magnum went to the hospital to visit her with his small batch of flowers, he saw many large vases filled with flowers and then remarked words to the effect that they were all from Higgy...

Contrary to many here, I actually like Cassie Yates, and think she was a great-looking gal. She played her role well in this episode and in the "Kiss of the Sabre"... With that said, the characters she played were terribly annoying, someone I'd hate to be around. But, not anywhere near as bad as the Goldie character; Goldie was a total loser (not the actress, but the character).

Count me in among you who loved the cat-spinning story. I imagine most of us have done that at one time or other with a pet cat and/or pet dog... the pets all seemed to enjoy it..

Didn't you just know that Higgy's tape of the snooker, at the end of the show, would be mangled in one way or the other?

As someone said, as soon as Magnum talked about developing the film that Shelly had, you had to know he'd be busting into the darkroom and destroy Higgy's developing in one way or the other. One thing many darkrooms have is an outside light that can be switched on from inside the darkroom as a way of signalling that it's in use... I'm surprised the estate darkroom didn't have that feature.

It was nice to see Higgy knock that guy off the "cliff"..

All those flowers Higgy sent to Agatha in the hospital speaks to his affection for her. Perhaps not romantic affection, but lots of personal affection. And it also speaks to the quality of the man and his honor.

It actually does. I believe there are some shots of the darkroom where there is a light over it in the study. But if memory serves me correct, it disappears in the res of this series.

Don't get me wrong. Cassie Yates is a good actress and attractive. It's just the characters she's written into on Magnum make me want to smack my head. That being said, she portrayed them convincingly.

I think it's the fact that throughout the course of the show her characters, while Magnum is trying to do his thing, interfere, criticize, commandeers and/or wrecks the Ferrari, Takes over the guest house and doesn't understand why Magnum is annoyed. Just overall annoying characters.

Loser? Hey, she helped Magnum pass English Lit., which in turn helped him to graduate. She doesn't sound like a loser to me. Of course.... she also.... burned down the goalposts at halftime of the homecoming game, so she clearly has some issues. ;)

Our thoughts about Cassie vs Shelly and her other character are the same. Those characters are folks I wouldn't want to be around.

Yes, you're right about "the light"; I do recall seeing it on earlier in the series (I think). Why it would disappear, or why Higgy didn't turn it on is a puzzle to me. Of course, even if it had been there and had been on, Magnum might not have paid attention to it. And, after Magnum had walked in on Higgy's earlier work in the darkroom, I'm surprised Higgy didn't have a lock put on the door.

This episode was a mixed bag. First off, Cassie Yates, again? Yikes! Did someone lose a bet or was she related to a producer? She's got this gross Sally Struthers kind of pastiness (and hairdo) that I don't find appealing. But I digress. The "cat speech" was really funny. Magnum's earnestness and desire to practice beforehand served as a good build-up to his flopping. Also, I found the scene where Magnum ruins Higgins' film hilarious. This episode had a lot of extras; Rick in drag, Higgins packing heat, The Gorton's Fisherman as a cop, and magnum taping over Higgins' boring snooker match. I gave it an 8.5

Cassie Yates looked great in the Kiss of the Sabre but two years later she looked like as a woman in her early fifties. What happened to her?

"Sorry, Tybby. I didn't mean to be catty." :) "And we used to play this great game with him on the kitchen linoleum. We called it "spin the cat." :D :D :D :D

By the way, the last episodes are very strong in this seasons.

There's also a device some doors are equipped with, known as a "lock"... which curiously enough goes missing in many television shows.

Flub not yet noted in this episode:

When the baddies' car collides with the Ferrari, it's clearly a replica Ferrari, or one with replica parts. Instead of mere mangling of sheet metal, the collision causes a virtual explosion and shower of shattered fiberglass fragments. Only a small number of 308s were made with fiberglass bodies in the first two years of production, and the cars we've seen on MPI have all been later steel-bodied models.

I enjoyed this one. Usually, my favorite episodes combine comedy with the drama which this one did nicely. I liked seeing Agatha get a bigger role, but they didn't really ever flesh out her character much. She probably had an interesting back story, but they didn't go much into it except a little bit here. I thought that the scene where it wasn't really Agatha in the bed was really funny. The speach for the cat people ended up being important later as they referenced it when using newspaper articles in more dramatic shows. It was also pretty funny how Shelley presumed they were after her due to her book, but they just didn't want the picture to incriminate them.

As much as Cassie Yates annoyed me in Kiss of the Sabre I actually didn't mind her in this one and actually thought this was a decent episode, gave it a 7.5. Poor poor Agatha and her broken legs! I have to say it's almost funny how Magnum is too busy yelling at Shelly to even notice that Agatha is down for the count. The cat speech is absolutely priceless! I love how the mood slowly moves from hero worship to slightly uncomfortable to extremely awkward to downright angry lol. My favorite part of this episode is Higgins obsession with the snooker tournament. In the beginning when Magnum knocks on the door and Higgins immediately screams for him to go away totally cracks me up. He's got tea and caviar and is totally obsessed. It reminds me of myself during the NCAA basketball tournament except it's chips and beer lol.

Saw Cassie Yates the other day in a Murder, She Wrote episode. I was just flipping channels and then - Bam! - there she was! It startled me, actually. I watched it for a little bit and then moved on. :)

Oh wow, how funny! I actually have just started to watch some Murder She Wrote's and that was a pretty decent show! I'm one of the few who really liked the Magnum/Murder She Wrote crossover episode and that got me thinking to give it a try! Glad I did, it's no Magnum but its kindv'e fun for a change of pace!

By far one of the most memorable TM faux pas when he gave the "cat speech." I also cannot get Cassie Yates out of my mind with her annoying appearances on MPI. I really didn't think her role could get worse that Kiss of the Sabre.

Another weak season finale.
