Even though Luther says, "..and the butler." a million times I still laughed at every single one of them.

Just watched this one again, such a funny episode!

Love the line above, really cracked me up!

Also loved this one:

Higgins (trying to cut through rope as Blanch tells stories): Almost finished. Keep talking. Another 5 minutes and you'll probably have him catatonic, along with me.

This is one of our family favorites. Watching Luther bluster his way through the search for and rescue of Blanche and "The Butler" is hilarious! This episode also includes one my boys' favorite lines when Luther says to Magnum: "Sorry! I forgot my loin cloth and spear!"
Rack em up!

This is totally my opinion...but as I stated in the other Luther Gillis episode...I can't stand him! He's loud-mouthed, hot-headed, slobby, and sometimes not real intelligent. :x

So how do I feel about this episode...well, the title ("The Return of Luther Gillis") says it all for me. Oh no!!

However, the first Luther episode is somewhat better than this one (although I dislike both). In the first one he's searching for his daughter and that's the one serious or good part of the episode. However, in this one he supposedly is trying to find his long-time secretary Blanche (who's been kidnapped along with Higgins)--who he's always planned to marry. But, at the end he "destroys" that poor woman and leaves her devastated at the altar--so he could go back to the wet, crowded, dirty St. Louis and pretend he's Sam Spade (and not very convincingly). :(

I'm sorry but in my opinion this totally proves Luther is a loser and a total punk! I disliked the character of Luther Gillis before...now I pity him as well as dislike him, to do that to a woman who'd stood by him since '53! That's just plain terrible and low-down.
"It was more ironic than a Robin Masters novel--she thought he was dead, he thought she was dead...and only the chauffeur knew the truth! He should have been the butler!" "Lest We Forget"

I can't believe i'm saying this as I was once a Luther hater but I have to say I really enjoyed this episode. Some classic lines and scenes. I love when Luther gets hit in the head with the frying pan by big sally and gets knocked out and then hits her with it later in the episode and she doesn't even feel it. Also, I found Blanche to be a funny character, but did not like the end when he stands her up at the wedding. Higgins failed karate chop and then Blanche's left hook to the guard was pretty funny as well. Even though it was a bit ridiculous, I completely enjoyed this episode.

I quite enjoyed this episode, Luther G is quite entertaining in an oafish, old school sort of way.

We also get to see the Blanche he refers to earlier in the series and she is thankfully one of those non annoying female guest stars. it must be my age but I found her quite appealing and amusing and her scenes when she was held captive with Higgins were top hole stuff.

It didn't know Sheree North was supposed to be a replacement/competitor to Marilyn Monroe, but she certainly appeared to be ageing well at the time of this episode.

I rewatched this one last night. It's good...but it's too much of a rehash of the first "Luther" episode. Nearly all of the jokes are just a tweaked versions of jokes from the first one. I don't think Magnum was very funny in this one, either. I don't know if it was the lines or Selleck's delivery. He screamed way too much. The comedy was just a bit too broad for me.

I recently watched and completely enjoyed this one, an 8.5 for me! Another in season 4's streak of good funny episodes (Limited Engagement, Squeeze Play, this one, etc.) Right from the beginning and both TM and Higgin's mail argument and then mutual despair at the arrival of Luther this one totally cracks me up. I thought Blanche (Sheree North) was FANTASTIC!

- The horror that Higgins showed when she was going to cook up the kielbasa from the deli was great! He was absolutely mortified.
- The scene where she and Higgins were tied up and first he scolds her for babbling on and on and then she gives it right back was hilarious. I also loved the failed "karate chop of doom" and then Blanche delivering the knockout punch he he he.
- I also love when Higgins tries to talk him out of killing them "But you've rehabilitated, you have a trade, hot dogs! If he was thinking of changing his mind throwing that insult at him sure wasn't going to help!

Good to see old Luther again, I liked this one MUCH better than his original episode in this same season. And Geoffrey Lewis is such a good character actor (my fav performance is as Stacey Bridges in the Clint Eastwood Western, High Plains Drifter, love it!)

- The convention scene where Luther was ripping on Lloyd DeWitt's hot dog shirt was priceless! So dumb and cheesy yet so funny lol.
- His battle with Big Sally was outstanding!! I love her smacking him with the frying pan and then hearing his incoherent babbling. Then on his second visit he hits her and it doesn't do a thing, hilarious!! She was one scary broad!!

I guess the only thing I didn't like was Luther leaving poor Blanche (even after crying outside the hot dog stand after he thought she and Higgins had been killed lol) at the alter but given that he is a total heel this hardly suprises me lol. This was a semi-ridiculous but very fun and comedic episode. I love how they mix these in now and then to give the show some variety.

Sheree North made this episode. Otherwise it was a weak, weak episode despite the fact that I loved Eugene Roach as Luther Gillis.

Lol poor Higgins. Every one of his digs at Blanche went right over her head. At least Magnum always understood what Higgy Baby was saying. :P
