why Lou is called Suitcase? I know it came in an earlier Jesse Stone movie, but I cannot remember why.
First...in case your use of Lou was not just a mistake. It's Luther Simpson, young Paradise policeman, who is called Suitcase. Lou was the Police Chief inParadise before Jesse was hired.
And the reason Jesse calls him Suitcase is after a black baseball player in the early days who's name was also Simpson. He was traded so often that his nickname became "Suitcase" because of how often he moved. Of course, Luther is white...was born, raised and has always lived in Paradise...and is not a baseball player. But that doesn't seem to matter to Jesse.
In case you want to see it again...this storyline is in Night Passage. Which is the beginning of the Jesse Stone story...but not the first movie.
Go figure!!
