..and wasn`t Tom Selleck Sexiest Man Alive in 83? Thinking about it, when you`re voted in 83 and are alive in 2008 how can you not be Sexiest Man Alive (can`t be written down often enough) today?!
Yes, in my understanding he still is Sexiest Man Alive
Sometimes I get so lucky, even I don`t believe it (TSM)

Where are all the good-looking-men these days???
Any opinions
That name always makes me laugh for some reason.
If I ever become a famous actor I was thinking of using the name
Hugh Jascle. Say it a couple of times, you'll get it.
By the way, if any females here can explain the Brad Pitt thing, I just don't see it.
Go look at Brad Pitt in "A River Runs Through It," and you might understand. That was his first movie, I believe, and though I am NOT a fan of his, he did look good in it. But that was when everyone was saying he was "the young Robert Redford," who actually WASN'T that good-looking when he was young (see "Inside Daisy Clover") because RR really hit his good-looking stride in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (though he wasn't BAD in "The Great Gatsby" and STILL looked d*mned good in "The Way We Were" -- sorry that one still makes me sigh . . . . )
To me, so much of what makes a man "sexy" is his principles/standards/behavior. Looks CERTAINLY contribute, but without the other, it falls flat -- TO ME!
I was not a particular Hugh Jackman fan until I saw "Someone Like You" (the one with Ashley Judd, which was not a very good movie, but I liked him in it), and then I appreciated that he could do rom com (though he had already done that with Meg Ryan in "Kate and Leopold") in addition to playing Curly in "Oklahoma!" (singing well!). I think he has made what I consider to be "stinkers" (e.g., "Van Helsing") but I think he looks good in period costume ("The Prestige"). I think he would make a good James Bond. And he seems to be a "good guy," like our TS.
But back to Brad Pitt for a very short note -- he got "ruined" for me when I read somewhere that he has a problem with hygiene. I swear I think I read that Jennifer Anniston said that!! The idea of a good looking guy with BO just totally turned me off!!! shudder
However, I must also confess that what appeals to me now, at my advanced age, is different from what got me drooling 20-30 years ago.
I thought that Thelma and Louise was his first movie. Then again, I may be wrong about that. It wouldn't be the first time. As far as what is sexy in a woman looks are only part of the equation. The personality and the way she carries herself are huge factors. I think I'm lucky enough to have a wife that has all of these.
Oink Oink! I for one confess that my Magnum P.I. ladies picks have been influenced by... certain physical factors. But that's a luxury one can afford when one doesn't have to face real life consequences. If I was choosing based on character, I'd go with Agatha, hands down.
Brad Pitt is okay I guess, at least he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously most of the time. What keeps him off my purely oink-oink male criteria list is; Too many chick movies and too many appearences on Oprah. To my knowlege, Tom only appeared on her show one time when he, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson were promoting Three Men and a Baby.......
I read in the newspaper when they were having the weekly puzzles, it said "Who made it into the Top 20 Sexiest Men Alive?" And you guessed it, TS was in the Top 20! (The weekly answer which I figured out )
