Music That Reminds you of MPI (but wasn't on the show)

I found this artist by listening to internet radio. "Casino Versus Japan" is actually just one guy on a keyboard. Oddly, his album titled "Go Hawaii" makes me think of MPI and not just because of the title. Especially Track 04 - Local Forecast. It starts at 17:08 if you don't want to listen to the whole album. Give it a listen and tell me what you think. If you have some music that reminds you of MPI, by all means, post it here.

How bizarre...get out of my head! :P

I was just telling a friend of mine that no one can make a saxophone solo work for a scene like the people that did it for Magnum.

XOXO

Listening to Les Baxter's The Soul of the Drums and the closing track, Ceremony, reminds me of the drums that were associated with the Mau Mau in the episode Black on White.

Nice choice!

I need to put something on so I can start my prep to go offer my hook with a snack for the pompano to kill themselves on (honestly, I'm so catch-and-release that I've mastered de-hooking, reviving, and release in record times!)

I might need something less aggressive than normal...or I might be shooting the visitors with my speargun instead of dinner...

Every time I hear the theme songs from Simon and Simon or Hill Street Blues I think of MPI because those three shows came on back to back for several years in the early and mid-eighties and they made up my favorite TV night of the week. A local radio station actually played the Hill Street theme song a few days ago and really set off a walk down memory lane.

That's not too surprising, it was a top-40 hit (got all the way up to #10). I had it on 45 (not the original but a "golden oldies" reissue). I'll have to check if I still do. Magnum's theme song was also a top-40 hit, and I still have the 45. My avatar is the sleeve.

If I happen to catch a rerun of Mannix I still say that opening theme sounds an awful lot like the original, pre-Mike Post theme music.....

For some reason I think of Magnum PI when I hear Bob Seger or 38 Special. Must be because that's what I was listening to back in the day.

Even Now, remember to Hold On Loosely on Mainstreet. If a Ramblin Gamblin Man or a Wild Eyed Southern Boy gets Caught Up In You you could wind up running Night Moves Against the Wind with a Beautiul Loser all the way to Katmandu. Listen to the Teacher, Teacher and Turn the Page on that Old Time Rock n Roll and you'll Feel Like Number Back Where You Belong at Fire Lake Rockin Into the Night and Rough Housin with a Fortunate Son.

+1 for .38 Special. Doesn't necessarily make me think of Magnum PI, just a good band. Well, now it probably will make me think of the show. :)

You can Roll Me Away (had to put his motorcycle journey in there)while I am listening to all of those classics. What an artist, like Jack Nicholson said about The Eagles: Repertoire.........I would have to add Like a Rock as it about a man turning 38 thinking back 20 years when he was 18..... somewhat familiar............

Roll Me Away . . . That's probably my favorite Seger song . . . he is underrated as a singer songwriter.

Not really an answer to the OP, but somehow related - I was listening to some music I had brought with me when exploring the islands in a rental, and there was that one song that was on when going to Waimanalo (I was listening to it quite a lot at the time). It has nothing to do with Hawai´i or MPI or anything, it is just a fun song, but whenever I hear it now, I'm back there! Astonishing how strong a connection the mind can make. At such occasions, I can almost feel the tropical heat in good cold Germany... Wow, it's been about ten years now and I can still feed on this vacation like it was last month.

Apart from that, I second that post about the Simon&Simon theme, kind of reminds me of Magnum, too, but then, that's somehow obvious, given the guest episode.

Don't tease us man, what's the song?
