Hey Conch/all, anyone ever heard of the Tikiyaki Orchestra? I have a couple of their CDs & they're really fun. Here's one that I have, "Aloha Baby"...it even came with a little cocktail umbrella in the spine of the jewel case. Great tiki party music! https://www.amazon.com/Aloha-Baby-Tikiy ... s=tikiyaki

By the way, has anyone been to the Mai-Kai in Florida http://maikai.com/? If so, what did you think? I've never been so just curious.

If you are a Tiki enthusiast then the Mai-Kai is NOT to be missed! Luckily, I live about ten miles from it, so I more than get my fill though I usually go to celebrate special occasions. They have a great bar with drink and appetizer specials and the atmosphere is wonderful. I generally can't stand nightclubs and bars, but the Mai-Kai is the exception.

Very cool, LG! When I started reading your comment I thought you were going to say it's a lousy tourist trap. They must have something good going to still be doing things right after all these years! Thanks for the feedback!

Hey Little Garwood, I'm 13 miles away from the Mai Kai. Small world.

I'm up for a Magnum-Mania get together at the Mai Kai if you guys and gals are. We must take advantage of the drink and appetizer specials as well as their great and ever-changing floor show. I make a point to applaud like Magnum does in "Ki'i's Don't Lie." :D

Stelth: Small world, indeed. I checked the distance and I actually live 13.8 miles from the Mai Kai.

A Tikiyaki Orchestra tune, Dan-O's Day Off is today's featured "Tune in a Flemingo Key" on Flemingo Key's FB page. :-)

Hi Conch,

I'm the first to admit I'm not very facebook-savy, but I've tried to find your "Tune in a Flemingo Key" on your FB page a few times now and I'm lost. :? Can you provide a link please, if you're comfortable. Great pics though...you definitely know how to have a good time!

Thanks!

Tunes in a Flemingo Key is something I do on an almost daily basis playing tunes with a tropical feel, sometimes tying into nartist birthdays as well.

I hope you enjoy!!

Glad you found it! I hope you enjoy the Tunes. Remember to like the page so you can keep up with ramblings, songs and other Flemingo Key activities! We're trying to push the season this year with the addition of a heater, we'll see how well it works.

Last Mango in Paris is an all-time fave song of mine, Captain Tony has a story that sounds like fiction (I wonder how much he embellished, or knowing the times, he slyly left out) and was instrumental in Jimmy playing his own songs at his saloon, instead of the usual covers.

I love the idea "there's still so much to be done" and try to keep that mindset.

I haven't picked up Jimmy's Christmas CD yet, how is it? I have ghis first one from a few years ago and it was just OK.
