A buddy of mine gets into it, but I am ready for late August early September and the start of American football.

My cup is named Stanley. While I totally respect Philly as a hockey-crazy town, I'd love to see the Blackhawks go all the way for the first time since 1961 (gives me hope for my depressingly bad Maple Leafs).

Just annoying that I can't get the games here in Europe. It's all soccer, soccer, soccer (a bit of local hockey too).

I enjoy the world cup a bit, but I really don't have a connection to any of the teams that do well.

Cricket fan - get fed up with footy invading every second summer with it's wags, bling and spitting (hang on I'm turning into higgins...) summers for watch armoured warriors ducking throat height 90mph balls.
best regards

I watch the World Cup. I was around and went to a big street party when Italy won 4 years ago.

However, I'm not pleased with the way this one is going. Too many problems with the game that need to be changed. Bad calls, offside rule that should be gone, diving, double penalties, penalty shots, etc

I can't speak to all of that, but I do know that the late foul against Edu in the U.S.-Slovenia game on the free kick (that cost us an amazing 3-2 come-from-behind victory) was horrendous beyond belief! Not only was there no foul against Edu (or any other U.S. player), there was at least two fouls on Slovenia's players! One of the worst calls I've ever seen in any sport!

Still, thanks to England-Algeria's tie, all we need is a victory against Algeria and we advance to the Round of 16.

Meh. A local sports host described exactly how I feel about soccer:

The U.S. advances on a injury-time goal! What a dramatic game! I think I've sprouted a couple more gray hairs.

Next up:

U.S.A v Ghana
England v Germany

Whoa boy! :)

True. We only lost by 1 point, not 3!
