Here's a tune that has moved up into one of my all time faves . . . Joe Ely covering Robert Earl Keen . . . yeah, there's a verse missing but he just does a great job on this song . . .

I have a hard time picking my favorite Don Henley song, he's one one of my favorite songwriters, but this is a top 5 for me.

"sometimes you get the best light from a burning bridge" who else could write that?

Awesome! You guy's got the hang of it now! :)

LOVE that version of "One Particular Harbour" in Anguilla! That is so great!

I can get into some Night Ranger. "Sister Christian" has a special place in my heart. They played that song to death in the mid-80's as I was driving around in my '78 Bug convertible. I still have no idea what the hell "You're motoring" means! :)

Ok, here's another favorite of mine. D.C. punk-garage rock legends The Slickee Boys "When I Go to the Beach" video from '83 (filmed in either Ocean City, MD or Rehobeth Beach, DE, the known facts are in dispute), which placed second MTV's Basement Tapes competition (if anybody remembers that). I have many found memories of seeing them in the 80's at the 9:30 Club in DC (the original location on F St) and at the University of Maryland's Colony Ballroom (Stamp Student Union).

Edit: I just realized that I broke the rule of this thread being LIVE music! Ugh, sorry! LOL! Ok, here's a Slickee Boys live clip. At Stamp Student Union in '84. I was at this show as a young lad. Insane! :)

MikeS goes eclectic .... nice!

JJ - that version of One Particular Harbour is a blend. When Jimmy did the Anguilla show he did a surprise popup concert of a few aoustic songs on the beach. That acoustic version of the song is the one I was looking for, it's got a great vibe. Unfortunately it looks like it hasn't been uploaded.

And now for something completely different:

Jump to 25:09

(I wanted to start at 25:09 (t=1509), but it looks like start time doesn't work on embedded videos)

And here's a tune from the early 70s that helped create the Legend of Bruce Springsteen . . . dueling guitars with Miami Steve . . .

Cool! You should definitely queue it up at the Key! It has a great Dick Dale/Beach Boys vibe, with an early 80's surf-punk edge to it. The Slickee Boys were mostly a Mid-Atlantic band (with the DC Metro Area being their home turf). They only released 4 studio albums (and several 7" singles and live compilations). They were essentially done by the late 80's, but have done many reunion shows over the years.

Here's another DC legend... Danny Gatton (aka "The Humbler", "The Telemaster", "The world's greatest unknown guitarist"). Sunday evening at Gallagher's in Washington D.C in the early 80's. He sadly committed suicide in 1994.
