Today I was watching (randomly) some TVs and what a surprise when I fell into an episode of "Airwolf" : The American Dream (1985)

You had here a real MPI cast !

Into this episode, you had of course : Ernest Borgnine (a.k.a. Earl Gianelli)


and of course : Jean Bruce Scott (a.k.a. Lt. Maggie Poole)


But you had all these asian actors appearing in Magnum :

John Fujioka (a.k.a. Mitsu's Father)


James Shigeta (a.k.a. Dr. Richard Enoka)

It was even stronger for french fans because one asian actor had the french voice of Francis Lax (Lax makes Magnum's french voice !)

Well, Mr Bellisario's series' actors are a big family !

Let's not forget that Kathleen Lloyd appeared in Airwolf as "Antonia 'Toni' Donatelli". There was a HUGE cross appearing of MPI and Airwolf stars back then. Jeff MacKay, Lance Legault, James Whitmore Jr., to name a few.

Well RTN strikes again. This past weekend I caught an episode of Airwolf. Hoo boy!! Did I really make it a point to watch that show in the '80's? My wife sat and laughed her way thru the entire episode!
Like Buck Rogers, this show does not hold up after so much time.

It depends which season you're watching - the first season was in many ways ahead of it's time, with dark stories about international intrigue and such.
But, studio executives being what they are, they demanded a lot of changes. The second season had its highs and lows, but by the third season it was very much just a generic action show.

But it was all better than the abysmal fourth season, filmed in Canada with a different cast, and all Airwolf shots taken from stock footage from the original series. It was cheap and horrible and barely watchable.

But maybe this belongs on an 'Airwolf' forum!

If you want a great MPI/Airwolf similarity though, check out the second season's 'The Truth About Holly', a reworking of 'Magnum's 'Italian Ice'.
