1980s Actors that you'd have guest star in Magnum, PI...

#1 Post by Danno »

Watching Ghostbusters the other night I went off on a tangent imagining what would it have been like if Bill Murray or Dan Aykroyd had guest starred on our favorite TV show... what would the dynamics be like, what kind of character would they play?

Then I began to wonder about a whole cast of other great 1980s actors...

Who'd you like to have seen on an episode of Magnum?

I would have loved if Robert Conrad would have guest starred on the show. There were so many Baa Baa Black Sheep alumni on Magnum, I think he was the only actor, along with John Larroquette, who didn't appear from that show.

James Garner would have been a perfect great guest star as well, obviously, considering the Tom Selleck/Lance White connection. It seems he was supposed to guest star in season 7, episode "A.A.P.I." But there was a dispute between Garner and Universal and it fell through.

Another James Garner vote. There are so many that could have been good/entertaining, doesn't make much sense to try to list them all, but just off the top of my head...Buddy Ebson..Lonni Anderson..Harrison Ford..Burt Reynolds..Andy Griffith..the list could go on and on. Eddy Murphy woulda been a gas!

Another vote for James Garner, Jack Lord and Burton Leon Reynolds Jr. I would also have liked to have seen Robert Urich as he and TS are good friends. On the female side, I only have one pick that would have been a true headline grabber and had so many great story possibilites; Sophia Loren............

Good one there. If TM had to follow a case to Vega$ perhaps .... or later in the series he crossed paths with Spencer.......

Kathleen Turner
Catherine Bach
Donna Mills
Jamie Lee Curtis

Seriously. You laugh, but I'm not kidding! ;)

As for the men... Jack Lord and Robert Conrad for sure. Robert Urich. River Phoenix perhaps. C. Thomas Howell. J.T. Walsh. David Morse. Harry Dean Stanton. Michael J. Fox. James Rebhorn. Yaphet Kotto. And others that I am forgetting.

ALL good suggestions!

Second Elvira and another vote for Robert Urich.

How about Goldie Hawn, or Farrah?

Also:
Sam Elliot or Clint Eastwood. As I said before, the list could go on and on and on....

Oh woah...this is awesome. 8)

I'm embarrassed to admit I had to look up James Garner but recognised him immediately.

JJ, that list! Especially Phoebe Cates. I'd love to have seen that.

The possibilities and the what could have beens, the potential story lines and characters... sigh.

I wish we had more than just eight seasons. :(

Yeah, and the trend is they are all brilliant actresses! ;)

But seriously, Magnum had a lot of beautiful women grace its screen. These would have fit in nicely along side Sharon Stone, Rebecca Holden, Judith Chapman, Erin Gray, Patch McKenzie, Margaret Colin and the rest of the gang, would they not? :)

Sam Elliott! They were great together in The Sacketts and The Shadow Riders! A long lost relative; A crook or spy, stealing Magnum's identity? Another PI? Who knows!

Better yet, Slim Pickens or anyone noteworthy from Blazing Saddles.

Slim Pickens and JH... Wow, what fun that could have been.
