Here’s more...
A funny radio interview with TS from 3 days ago.....well TS is funny -- ignore the dumb conversation in the beginning and hang in there, TS does finally join in. He talks about Movember and his avocado ranch. I had no idea it was dead!!!

Re: The Tom Selleck Thread
And here's another one from yesterday, November 10, 2016, on The View. No, I'm not a stalker...actually 308GUY tipped me off to this one (thankX! )
Interesting note, he mentions that he just had hand surgery but there's no explanation why. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8mVqigqQF4

Re: The Tom Selleck Thread
I was actually home and was going thru my guide channel and saw that he was going to be on. Tom has guts to on to that show after the election and after Whoopie opened with one of her rants about the election outcome and whether or not she was one of the celebrities that had stated they were going to leave the country. Not a political statement on my part but it would be nice if a few more celebrities would take Tom's stance of staying neutral as all you do is make one half of the country mad whichever candidate they are supporting (or in Tom's case, neither)............Rembrandt's Girl wrote:And here's another one from yesterday, November 10, 2016, on The View. Looks like the full story posted online a few days ago. What a great interviewthat is! Thanks for posting it. It's interesting that they mention Monte Walsh (the original starred Lee Marvin, BTW), which is about the death of the Old West, and then further along in the interview Tom laments the difficulty in getting a western film produced because others feel there isn't any interest there.

TS is narrating once again, and this one sounds fantastic! We're coming up on the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and this article says that this documentary will air on PBS throughout the U.S. If I find that it gets posted online, I'll be sure to provide a link! Also, a nice mention of Roger in the article...

What a fantastic project.
So glad to know there are those that understand the need to do these type things and have the means, motivation and wherewithal to get them done.
Would sure like to be there for the debut, but I'm sure I'll see it at some point. I hope everybody does.
“The window is closing now,’’ says Gray. “We need to preserve these stories so that future generations understand we are who we are because of the sacrifice and courage of the World War II generation.’’
That quote from the article says it all, as far as why this is so important.
The past lives in the past, but I think it's imperative to know where we came from in order to truly appreciate where we are now.
Can't think of ANYBODY better to do the narration either!
Thanks for posting RG........you're a gem to be sure!

Yep, I am so proud to be the son of P-38 pilot from WWII. Luckily we forced him to write down his experience about when he was shot down 10 days after d-day in northern France before he passed away. His was an incredible story like so many others and included in a chapter on the 55th fighter squadron of the 8th Army Air Force. The Greatest Generation for sure!!!Rembrandt's Girl wrote:I completely agree, 308GUY!308GUY wrote:

I love hearing those old war stories, but like you said it can be difficult to persuade loved ones to open up and understandably so.

Wow, you two are amazing! A couple of quick addendums to my fathers story in Double Nickels. In the early sixties when we were still in Walnut Creek, CA, Madame Heller, the great woman that cared for so many allies including my father, came to San Francisco and visited us. I was probably 7 or 8 years old so the enormity of that event was lost on my youth.
The other story is, back in the nineties my father received a letter from a Frenchman that had tracked him down through a painstaking internet search in the early days of search engines. He was 16 years old at the time of my fathers squadrons attempt to take out the bridge, saw my fathers plane hit, watched him bail out too low and never knew if he had died on impact, was captured or escaped. The two started up a correspondence that culminated in my father and his wife being invited over to the town in Northern France where he was first hidden. They had a Parade in his honor, presented him with the key to the town and even had a few pieces of his wrecked P-38 they had kept and later shipped to him.
As so many of that generation, my father was magnanimous, humble and had a sly sense of humor. As such, he always made sure he ended this story by saying that when he visited the railroad bridge they were trying to bomb into oblivion there wasn't a mark on it and yet was still a hero.........LOL!
