I just saw a Murder She Wrote episode (1992 - Murder on Madison Avenue). Hillerman starred as an eccentric toymaker and he had ballooned in weight. He also looked much older than his 60 years at the time. Some of it could have been makeup. I have heard that his health was not that good and there was an internet death hoax just recently as well as another recent report that he just split from his wife. I never know what to believe any more. [sigh]

If Mr. Hillerman is in Texas right now, I pray he's being taken good care of with the hurricane approaching. From what I'm seeing, Harvey is gonna be a big one.

(Higgins is planning defences against the approaching storm)
Magnum: This isn't a war you know. I mean, once nature sets it's course, you can't do anything to stop it.
Higgins: You can if you're British!

He comes from good DNA, hopefully he is taking a break from his all on assault of Harvey and enjoying a Whiskey without any bloody damn ice.......

Very sad news, what a crummy day.

Will have to watch some classic Higgins episodes in honour of JH.

I'm beyond devastated. :(

I knew this day would come, but it's still brings a heaviness to my heart. I have solace in knowing he is at peace and has left us with a fine collection of his life's work that I/we can continute to enjoy for years to come.
