That was a good read. It is always fun to read interviews from when it actually aired on television.
So Hillerman thought that Magnum would last five years, thats interesting.

Wow, great links, ThomasMagnum!
It it just me or does Hillerman actually sound like he was the one living a bit more like Magnum or even Mac than you'd expect...
I like to do whatever I want to do when I want to do it. Sometimes for dinner, I feel like a hot fudge sundae. So I go and have a large hot fudge sundae and I don't have somebody nagging at me, 'Eat your meat and veggies.'
Sometimes, when he isn't working... he will simply loll the day away in bed.

So while I was looking up Agatha, I also looked into the Sgt Maj.
Born December 20, 1932 in Denison, Texas at his family home:
409 S Tone Ave, Denison, TX 75020 USA
to Christopher Benedict Hillerman (1900 - 1979) & Lenora "Nonie" Joann Medlinger (1904 - 1980)
Mr & Mrs Hillerman had the following children:
John Bennidict Hillerman (1932 - ) married ???
Photo caption says (it couldn't be an error)
20 May 1987 - wife and John Hillerman (Photo by Ron Galella, Ltd./WireImage) *** Local Caption ***
and I wouldn't discount
this either
Rose Mary Hillerman (1926 - 2008) who married and had 3 children:
Jo Ann Hillerman (1935 - ) Married Christopher Leonard Tritico, 1 daughter
On the 1940 Census, he is listed as Jack Benn Hillerman
On his birth certificate he is listed as John Bennedict Hillerman - His mother then requested that it be corrected to John Benedict Hillerman - officially recorded by the Registrar in 1970. How bloody curious
Also this article from The Denison Press, 1949 regarding John (Jack) and his sister Jo Ann
I would love to find out if he had/has a wife

Hi guys,
In a 1990s interview John Hillerman talked about a TV-Series and a book he was writing. Does anyone know anything about it?
Are there any records (pictures, videos) of the plays he did before doing movies? Would love to see him on stage!

Am I the only one who sees just a little of Hunter S. Thompson?

Here's a montage of JH clips from The Betty White Show (1977). Please excuse the poor quality. It was recorded off of VHS to DVD then finally MP4. Enjoy!
