This episode is somewhat of a throwback to the two-fisted Magnum adventures of the earlier seasons. Despite the implication that Magnum is looking for change in his life, it lacks the dramatic tone that the remainder of the season would develop. I guess that's what I enjoy about it. Magnum not only gets mixed up with a drug lord, but still has time to bed his beautiful foreign captor while living on the run! :D

When Magnum complains about the ammo being moved, I love Higgins' excuse: "I didn't realize we'd be defending the Alamo!"

For some reason, I think the episode names of this episode and "Solo Flight" should be switched, or at least could be interchangeable.

"On the Fly" could be "Solo Flight" because Magnum throughout the episode is trying to fly solo, and at the end, does.

"Solo Flight" could be "On the Fly", because 1/2 the episode, he's talking to an actual fly!

Just my thoughts

:D

Hehe, that's pretty funny Doc!

Well, if it wasn't for "Mac", or the Alamo-style shootout at the estate, or the Bonnie and Clyde-style shoot-up of the Vanagon, or the great Higgins one-liners ("O. Henry 1st edition destroyed! Balzac barely spared!"), this episode would be a total bust for me. Magnum and Maria?! Talk about no chemistry, yikes!

It's hard for me to tell without seeing the front grille! I'm fairly good at IDing classic cars because I remember when they came out! (Yeah, that makes me OLD!) LOL

While riding in the back of "Mac's" car, TM finds a box of comics which he states is worth a lot of money. The hand that reaches into the box features a shirt with sleeves buttoned, and a non Rolex looking watch with a jubilee band. In the prior and next shots TM is wearing his sleeves rolled up, and is wearing the GMT with the normal Oyster band.

While this episode did have a lot of awesome one liners, especially from Higgins, IMO it was just a little too much with all the shooting and killing. It felt like an Arnold movie at times, with Magnum just mowing down guys running into the fire like headless chickens, without getting touched by a bullet himself. In the end I voted it Decent, for some great stuff but also some silly overkill.
Was vaccinated with a phonograph needle one summer break
Same summer that I kissed her on her daddy's boat
And shot across the lake
Singing all the way...
Oh I say mama
Living Ain't a luxury
Oh I say mama
And a lil' ain't enough for me

Anyone notice that while riding in the back of Mac's car rummaging through his stuff, TM is waving the gun around with his finger on the trigger?
