SL,

You are correct! The margarita fixings in the big flasks are what we put in the golf bags, which we check. In theory and practice, you could load up the little airplane bottles (that you've emptied out previously and kept) with whatever you wanted to take along, but that would limit you to about six little bottles (what will fit in a 1-qt. baggie, and then you couldn't take shampoo, lotion, etc. -- but, hey, you can buy that when you get there! Priorities here!). That would last for a three-day trip (?) IF you got your tequila when you arrived, which would be the easiest component to acquire.

Can you tell I speak from experience????

The Gold Feather necklaces are from Rapture I think.

tralfaz,

Thanks for that. I don't remember that from that episode, but I haven't seen it for a while. Maybe someone (James?) who has the DVDs can post a screenie, showing it as it was used in the episode. I was thinking it was from The Kona Winds, I guess, just because of the winds and surf shown at the first of that episode, but there was no mystery of a disappearing woman in that episode, so you're probably right.

Second day of MGI's time in Hawaii now posted on his blog.

MGI's September 10

Again, it is very detailed and long, and potentially BOOOOOORRRRIIIINGG! But I just wanted to document everything I could while I still remembered it. It's just terribly time-consuming to construct it all so much later and try to include everything. I have a feeling most posts after this one will get much shorter.

Dang, golf! You've got this traveling margarita thing down to a science. Brilliant! My hat's off to you! :D My husband does something along those lines when we go camping. (He was an Eagle Scout.) He wraps hot dogs and frozen french fries separately in foil when we start the drive to the campground, and wedges them on the engine manifold. By the time we get to where we're going, dinner is done! All we need to add is mustard and ketchup, and get a beer out of the cooler! :D (He didn't learn the beer part in Scouts!) LOL!

I think it is the one worn by the boy, Keli'i. If I had to make a guess I would say it appears the plan was for one necklace to be worn by the actor playing the boy, and then the other 'encrusted' one would be used at the end when Magnum finds the necklace on the sea floor.

However, It seems that the 'encrusted' necklace was never used as it is found pristine at the end of the episode.

Perhaps it didn't read well on screen. Or perhaps they just preferred the more uplifting feel that the pristine necklace conveyed.

Here are tiny screencaps from this site. you can just make out the necklace. (Best I could do..) Depending on your browser, try Ctrl + to zoom in.

Nice job Tralfaz, I think you're correct on all counts.

Here's two more screencaps. (The first has been brightened.)

This is so cool -- to identify the episode for one of the pieces I saw.

However, I have a question about this. I wonder if it's real gold. I handled it and it wasn't heavy as I tend to think real gold would have been (could have been the hollow rope chain), but in my experience, 20-year-old costume jewelry discolors and looks crappy after twenty years. No, I didn't look for a stamp on the clasp . . . .

Any gold specialists here?

Just a "bump" for this title for those new members who might not have followed this Oahu visit and the viewing of the "Lost Treasures of Magnum, P.I."

I need help to respond to a question I received on MGI's blog from someone who is an Alan Hale fan, I believe. He was asking about the ring I saw in "Michael"'s "lost treasure" collection. I know someone posted screenshots of Hale wearing the ring from the episode, but now I can't find them. I thought they would be on this thread, but I'm not seeing them. Can someone point me at them so I can let this guy see the ring in place in the episode?

Any way to put the pictures back in this thread?.....(Without giving PB $400!)

Working on it. Surely I have the pictures on my computer somewhere. Now I just need to FIND them. When (note I hopefully am not saying "if") I find them, I'll post them on another web-hosting site (there are many since the photobucket days . . . ) and post a link here.

I found them (with no explanation of what any of them are) and uploaded them all to flickr or tumblr or whatever it is now. Someone check and see if this link gets you to all of them. So let me know if this works, and if not, I'll try something else.

Yes! They all work.

Thank you golf, did anybody end up with any of this stuff? I remember seeing the belt buckle, or one just like it on ebay some time ago...think it got up to over $500, but don't recall if it sold or not. Might have seen a couple other items too, like a ring or two. Wouldn't mind having some of those things myself. Just watched "Paper Wars" the other day, and wouldn't mind having that "Cereus Mandevillus" sign, LOL ...but not that hard to duplicate that!
Also wouldn't mind latching on to the broken RayBans and/or the decapitated rubber chicken...also fairly easy to replicate...but NOT the same as having the "original screen used chicken"   More than a few items that would be "treasures" to me. :magnum:

Would REALLY like to find out what happened to the VCR tapes of behind the scenes stuff......as has been mentioned before, the DVD's NEED some "bonus" items, and I can't think of better material than what might have been recorded by those that were there at the time.

Maybe it's been discussed, but I missed it...I mean the thread IS a "little" out of date!

Thanks KH for taking the time to upload the pics. More than a few folks are having to find new places to host pics, since the PB debacle. :higgins:
