Okay...this isn't everyday... :magnum: but I have used T.C.s "Shut-up you mangy pothounds" a few times when dealing with spazzy barking dogs. I tried to bring back the use of calling inconsiderate people "Turkeys" but it didn't stick. :higgins:

Whenever someone under achieves, my line is... "This is your best event?" from Beauty Knows No Pain.

Great topic! Love all the picks so far! :)

I work several different quotes into my daily repertoire.

1) My reply after I've asked my kids if they've done their chores... "The look on your face is even more vacuous than usual. You've failed havn't you?" (Higgins, "Ki'i's Don't Lie")

2) I know I've uttered this many times over the years, "I know what you're thinking... and you're wrong."

3) Conversation to myself every morning when in look into the bathroom mirror... "It matters. It matters, because sometimes you get to a point where easy rationalizations don't cut it anymore. There's gotta be a place where you stop and examine your life, and if it isn't right then maybe you just gotta say no, and no more, ... or stop looking in the mirror." (Magnum, "The Hotel Dick")

4) When I'm fuming mad! "This is outrageous! OUT-RAG-EOUS!!" (Higgins, "Thank Heaven for Little Girls...")

Surprisingly, Magnum quotes don't creep into my vocabulary like they should, but two Higgins ones come to mind for possible use: "Have you gone irrevocably, inconceivably mad?!" and "Because that... is the order of the universe!"

You probably won't believe me when I say I have done this numerous times, but if I am alone (or not with anyone I know and no one notices me) I will break the 4th wall. For example, if I am in the kitchen and I drop my peanut butter bread on the floor, AND it falls peanut-butter-side-down, I will cut my eyes to where a camera could be located that would be a good angle to catch my reaction and the bread on the ground and give that look....

It makes it really difficult to get mad...

Love it!

I've found myself doing the same thing....it's like when you do that look "at the camera" thing...you can almost see JQH or TM or even TC looking back at you. Now that I think about it, can't really recall seeing Orville do it....and TC not very often. None of them really did it "often"...but enough to make it note worthy, and to pick up on.

It's one of those "are you kidding me" moments.... :magnum:

I'd love to have a situation where I could use "NO! Not the Ferrari!" But I do use "I know what you're thinking" quite a bit....course I don't see that many people..therefore..don't have that many conversations. :geek:

Mad Kudu Buck wrote: I do lots of quoting from other shows too. The Simpsons quote "These candidates make me want to vomit in terror!" can be used basically any time there is an election.
For me, it's whenever someone complains about a current officeholder, I say "don't blame me, I voted for Kodos." Especially after our last presidential election, when both of our choices were so bad, it especially fits.

1. One of my good friends since middle school, and a regular in our quarterly poker game, his last name is Higgins, so of course I call him Higgy-baby.

2. Whenever I'm out in my SOT kayak and I see something that looks like a large fish, I usually say "Herman, is that you?". I always hope it isn't a shark, because where I paddle, a shark is most likely to be a bull shark.

3. When I let my dog (a black and tan dachshund) out in the backyard, I tell him to "patrol!"

4. I've been known to say, in a British accent "Oh. My. God!" when something disasterous but also kind of funny happens around this house. I did it last weekend, we had been away for the weekend, and came back on Sunday afternoon to find my daughter had accidentally shut the door to the room with the cats' litter pan on it, so in protest they used my wife's and my bed.

5. I'll say "I know what you're thinking, and you're right" on occasion.

Unlike most here, I don't say "hi guys," as a native Texan, "hey y'all" is too deeply ingrained.

Whenever I hear somebody say "y'all", I think of John Candy in Midnight Cowboy II in 3D.

I was always confused by somebody saying "y'all" when only talking to one person.

"Y'all" is singular. "All y'all" is plural. 8)

Yes, of course. It's so obvious, I don't see how I missed it. :P

That's very Deep South, I don't think I ever have heard someone say "y'all" when addressing just one person here in Texas. Here, y'all is to address a group, just a contraction of you all, or serve the same person as "youse guys". It just fixes the flaw in standard english of both the singular and plural second person pronoun being exactly the same one. And "all of y'all" is letting a large group of people know you are addressing the group as a whole, rather than just two or more people within the group.

Regional dialects are so much fun. There was an older Oklahoman I used to work with who, upon parting, would say "I'll see y'all a while ago." I could never figure out that one. And then there was my wife's grandfather, sweetest guy, but from Tennessee, and had the thickest Appalachian accent, I could only understand about every third word.
