MPI On Location Home Video from 1983

#1 Post by Rembrandt's Girl »

Check out this "M.P.I. on location" home video from 1983 ("No More Mr. Nice Guy") on Kahala Ave. right by the Waialae Beach Park. For those unfamiliar with the location, at :44 you can see the KKC Beach Bar in the background.

Here's the full video! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85vepJshXl8

Great find!

That was real nice of Tom to wave and acknowledge the fans. When we saw Denzel Washington filming on location in Philly, he didn't respond to or look at anyone.

Damn, I miss the Op cord shorts the guys used to wear.

And how many times did that Brown Ford Pinto drive by the shoot location?

Yes, great quality amateur video camera for 1983. Remember when the Japanese used to travel with all that amazing camera equipment? This is a good example of the value of it for everyone. There must be tons of awesome video footage and stills from around the world from this period in history tucked away in Japan. Thanks for finding it.

By the way, does anyone know who anyone on the crew is? I expect lots of these guys were constantly present for many episodes. Might be one of the few time we have to see what they look like.

Hi Styles!

I've found a special series about the Magnum "family" that was published in a local Hawaii newspaper when MPI was drawing to a close. This first part touches on a few crew members and then Kwan Hi Lim at the end.

Here are the first articles in the series, more to come.....

Fan-tastic RG!

What a jewel you are! :magnum:

Can you find out if any of these folks still live there...and if they're taking borders?

I thought Tanaka's first name was "Yoshi"...or is that a term of "endearment"? Just curious. :magnum:

Yes, this is excellent stuff! If Doc is still maintaining the site, these are certainly worthy of being posted on the print media page!

I thought that too! I think that was John Nordlum and coincidentally I have an article on him as well. I'm going to start a new thread for this special farewell series "Aloha Magnum".

Awesome find!

It takes so long to film one quick cut away shot! Imagine how long it would take to film each episode!

Great find Steve,

I am pretty sure this is the stand in / stunt preparation work for "Ki'i's Don't Lie" . Magnum had to engage Morgan Fairchild's huge bodyguard at the airport while Higgins tried to stop her escaping on a flight back to the USA. Just watched that episode a few days ago. :magnum: :higgins: :)
