I went ahead and purchased a Detroit Tigers cap from a local seller. They stated that the hat was new and that they had purchased it (along with other caps) in Honolulu (by the way, I'm outside the US, just for some context)

I was sure I was going to get a modern New Era cap as sold on MLB.com... but this is what I just received :D

It has the green bill underside as described by MagnumILWU. I paid $24.50 (USD) including delivery.

and it came from Honolulu.....You couldn't make it up!
Glad for you! :D

Do they have any more?

I checked out the one Magnum ILWU posted..(https://www.etsy.com/listing/469444581/ ... ref=market) but it's a 7 5/8 and I need a 7 1/8 or 7 1/4 (I think!) Can't tell if this one..(https://www.detroitathletic.com/1967-de ... eedle.html) has the green underbill or not, but they do offer sizing.

I've got one with the "correct" D on front, but it's an adjustable and the underside of the bill is navy, like the rest of the cap.

Good for you! The green underbill, white cap liner. fitted! That's the cap! Does it have the MLB logo on the back? I hope not!
No, it's the same as the Etsy one you posted previously :magnum:
That's Magnum's 1980's Detroit Tigers cap! I loved those style caps! Great find!

Little Garwood wrote:Everyone remembers Gibson's game-one-winning smash home run and subsequent victorious limp around the bases in the '88 World Series, but I like to recall his '84 World Series blast at Tiger Stadium vs. the San Diego Padres ("They're gonna pitch to ya!"). Sparky Anderson was the best.

How symbolic that '84 World Series was: it's the "Magnum vs. Simon & Simon" World Series! :D
Garwood,
You might want to catch Sparky Anderson's guest starring(not a cameo) on "WKRP In Cincinnati", one of the greatest comedy series ever, I believe it's still on Youtube. Sparky was both funny and moving in the episode when he talked about cutting players.
He was a great manager but I for one can never forgive him for his(admittedly out of character for Sparky) various nasty cheap shots at Thurman Munson during the 1976 World Series. American League MVP for 1976 Munson set a record for offense by a losing team's player in the World Series and Sparky still stated Munson's name shouldn't even be brought up in any way when talking about the catching match ups, as the Reds had Bench.
By the by, baseball players used to constantly pop up on tv series till the 1990's when their salaries really soared. The Rifleman constantly had on Dodger players, many times unbilled as the head bad guy's stooges in non speaking parts. Dodgers were on Munsters, Joey Bishop, Bilko, Mr. Ed etc, many Yankees too on other shows. Not to mention the Tigers double play combo from their 1984 team appearing on Magnum.

I'm in search of a Detroit Tigers Cap. Anyone have one for sale? 7-1/2 or larger.

I was doing some searching on eBay last night. SOOO many Tigers caps out there.

Is this what I should be looking for:

Vintage 80s. Wool. Green under the bill. White liner. No MLB logo.

A couple years ago I just went to lids and bought one. It's fitted and navy blue (not the low profile one).

Looks good. But it's obviously not vintage. I'm personally not jazzed to wear the same hat someone else wore....

Good luck with the hunt.
