I know this is an older topic but I have a question for Carmen. I have been looking at watches too but have come to the conclusion that I won't be getting a Chronosport anytime soon. How do you like the Chris Benz diver I was thinking of purchasing one but could not find very many reviews. Carmen if you could let me know what you think of the quality of the watch and has it held up for you? Also have you ever heard of the watch shop.com in Germany ? I think it used to be called the watch boutique.

This is the closest I can find to a Chronosport Sea Quartz 30. What do you guys/gals think??? It has the 12-6-9 numbers, tick marked bezel with pretty close 10, 20, 30, etc., day/date (but in white...grrr), general shape isnt bad...

I had to wait until I had a decent enough camera to take this picture, but I got this several months ago. Just thought I'd share. It's old, and it's beat up, but it's mine!

Very nice. It's got a lot of character!

What did Magnums say Sea Quartz? And this one doesn't.

Magnum had an early model that had "Quartz" on the dial

I recently bought a Chronosport Sea Quartz 30. It's a beautiful watch. Elegant but masculine. Simple in design. I really enjoy wearing it and looking at it. Of course, I am infected with "Magnum Mania", which drove me to get the watch, but I love the show and the watch and I appreciate all the work that the creator of this website and its contributors put into compiling information about the show, the characters an the Magnum gear.

Anyway, I've been reading posts here for some time, and finally decided to particpate. I'm glad to see there are others who see the magic of Magnum, as I do. The show was corny at times, and would be easy to ridicule, except that it did not take itself too seriously. There is a lot of humor in it. I just watched the first Luther Gillis episode (4:2 I think) and it made me laught out loud a few times, even though I had seen it 2 or 3 times already.

Folks - I'm new to this forum having found it while researching the Chronosport watch that Magnum was wearing. I actually met Tom Selleck several times while living in Hawaii and working in a Honolulu restaurant where he was a frequent guest, both before and after the show aired. Really a nice guy and completely unassuming, even after he was famous and we would have to station a host near his table to keep autograph hounds away while he was dining.

Anyway, I lived in Hawaii for 28 years in total starting in 1976. I got into diving in 1979 and bought a Chronosport Sea Quartz watch which I used for two years as a part-time scuba charter guide. At that time I noticed that Tom wore the same watch on the show and off but didn't think about it too much once I left the restaurant business and stopped diving regularly. I stored the watch away in a drawer for 35 years and just pulled it out to sell on ebay along with other stuff I wanted to get rid of.

So, I am going to be getting a new battery installed and having it checked out to make sure everything is in working condition. If anyone is interested in having the same model watch that Magnum wore, this is the original Swiss Made Chronosport model that just says "Quartz" on the face. I understand that in 1982 they changed the face to say "Sea Quartz 30" but it is the same watch and has number 23501 on the back of the case.

Great story and nice to see the Selleck connection with you and your watch. I'm not in the market, but thanks for sharing - and be sure to post a link to the ebay listing if you put it there. You never know...it might be irresistible!
